Addressing Pain Series

Addressing Pain Series, 60 Hour Certificate Program. This program is specifically designed for those therapists that are ready to fine tune their skills and take the next step towards effective and results oriented soft tissue therapies. By using a distinctly select combination of massage techniques and stretches, participants will develop easy clinical, safe and effective protocols addressing myofascial pain.

All Courses Involve:

1 Hour – Lecture focusing on Anatomy, Pathology, Conventional Approaches to Myofascial Pain and Massage Approach to Myofascial Pain.

5 Hours – Hands On includes interactive anatomy review and application, technique overview and application along with indications and contraindications, endangerment sites, precautions and modifications. Students participate in all exchanges.

Advanced Facial, Head and Neck Massage Extend your capabilities and expand your profitability with this eight-hour workshop that covers advanced techniques in facial cleansing as well as in facial, head, neck and chest massage. You'll learn the proper procedure for facial cleansing and get hands-on experience in a lengthy facial massage sequence.

Participants should bring one set of sheets, six hand towels, two small bowls, one medium bowl, Velcro headband, a 1” – 1½” small pastry brush or paint brush, and pen and paper. Handouts, products and other supplies will be provided.

Business Essentials Enhance your knowledge and business skills on the rules and regulations affecting massage therapists; including changes in state laws, business management, accounting and taxes, and advanced marketing and networking. Discuss common ethical concerns and problems affecting all massage therapists and review up and coming trends to the field. Handouts, samples, and training manuals provided.

Intro to Thai Massage Thai massage is an ancient bodywork system that combines yoga-like stretches, muscle compression, and acupressure and reflexology techniques into a flowing sequence that balances and harmonizes the body.

During this introductory course, the massage student will learn a basic full-body kata (routine), which will address the body from the supine, prone, side-lying and seated positions. The course will also explore the history and other cultural influences on Thai massage.

Participants should wear loose, comfortable clothing. Thai massage is traditionally done on the floor on a mat. Students should bring mats, blankets and pillows.

Orthopedic Massage and Pain Management Learn a gentle and pain free approach to therapeutic healing with orthopedic massage. Understand the importance of postural distortion and how to produce positive results with clients exhibiting plantarfascitis, achilles tendonitis, posterior medial and anterior lateral shin splints, anterior compartment syndrome, sciatica, low back pain, rotator cuff injuries, bicipital tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrom, tennis elbow and others. You will study functional assessment skills, PNF, structural balancing, myofascial work and much more in this terrific 18-hour course.
Orthopedic Massage - Lower Body Orthopedic Massage - Lower Body addresses pelvic stabilization and lower extremity injuries. The conditions covered include low back pain, sciatica, SI joint dysfunction, scar tissue, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, anterior compartment syndrome, medial shin splints, lateral shin splints, ankle sprains, stress fractures, hamstring strains, iliotibial band friction syndrome, patellar tendonitis, chondromalacia and meniscus tears.
Orthopedic Massage - Upper Body Orthopedic Massage - Upper Body addresses pelvic stabilization and upper extremity injuries. The conditions covered include low back pain, sciatica, SI joint dysfunction, scar tissue, frozen shoulder, thoracic outlet, rotator cuff injuries, bursitis, bicipital tendinitis, cervical pain, whiplash injuries, compressed disks, rhomboid pain, mid and upper back pain, medial and lateral epicondylitis, carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis.
Sports Massage As a sports massage therapist, you will be able to build your practice around clients who live an active lifestyle, including both amateur and professional athletes. We have combined our former 2-part series into a single 18 hour course devoted to this important topic. It teaches you the goals, benefits, principles and contraindications of sports massage, plus a variety of techniques. You will also learn the important distinctions between pre-event (warm up) and post-event (cool down) massage.

The course also deals with treating soft tissue injuries that result from physically active lifestyles and sports. You will develop an understanding of common injuries and learn the soft tissue injury protocol, cramp relief techniques, selected stretches and sports massage techniques. In addition, you will gain valuable insight about your role in treating these injuries along with other healthcare practitioners.

Be sure to wear running shorts or clothing suitable for massaging the upper and lower body, and for stretching, as appropriate. Also, bring a set of sheets.

TMI State Review This 12 hour 2 day course is designed specifically to prepare students to take the state test in order to become a licensed massage therapist. Each day students will be placed in mock settings that they will face when taking the state test. Saturday morning, students will enter the classroom and take a mock written test. Then the afternoon will be spent on reviewing all aspects of the written test and strengthening any weaknesses that the students may have. Sunday morning, students will be paired appropriately and will then perform mock practicals. The afternoon will then be spent on stations designed to prepare each student to handle a variety of combinations that they may encounter while taking the practical portion of the state test. This class will include a packet of vital information that the student will be able to take and continue to practice, review and prepare successfully.
